ScanChat PDF Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 25, 2026

ScanChat PDF (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is a PDF scanner, editor, and on-device AI app for iPhone and iPad. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the ScanChat PDF app (“App”).

By using ScanChat PDF, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

1. Who we are

ScanChat PDF is published by Chirag Gohil. The App Store listing is ScanChat PDF (Apple ID 6814474028).

2. No account required

You do not create an account to use ScanChat PDF. We do not operate a login system, user database, or cloud profile for the App.

3. Information processed on your device

ScanChat PDF is built so your documents stay on your iPhone or iPad. Information processed locally may include:

  • PDFs you scan, import, or create
  • Photos you convert into a PDF
  • Text extracted from documents, including OCR text
  • Chat, notes, and search index stored with a document
  • App preferences such as theme, language, and layout

This information is stored in the App’s local storage on your device. We do not operate a server that receives your document files or extracted text.

4. Permissions

  • Camera is used only when you scan documents.
  • Photo Library is used only when you import images to create a PDF, or when you save exported page images.
  • App Tracking Transparency may be requested so advertising can be more relevant. You can choose Allow or Ask App Not to Track. If you decline, you can still use the App. Ads may still appear, but they are less personalized.

ScanChat PDF does not request microphone, location, or contacts permission.

5. Scanning, OCR, and AI

Scanning, OCR, search, summaries, chat with PDF, extract, merge, split, compress, rotate, sign, watermark, and markup run on your device.

The App does not send your documents to a third-party AI service. On iOS 18 or later, optional translation uses Apple’s system Translation feature, which is provided by Apple and follows Apple’s privacy terms.

6. Sharing and export

If you share a PDF, image, or text using the iOS share sheet, only the content you choose is sent to the app or service you pick (for example Mail, Files, or Messages). That sharing is initiated by you.

7. App Store and purchases

Rate App and Share App open Apple’s App Store listing.

ScanChat PDF may offer auto-renewable Premium subscriptions (monthly and yearly). Apple processes payment through StoreKit. We do not receive your full payment card details. Apple tells us whether a subscription is active so the App can remove ads and unlock Premium features. Manage or cancel in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Apple’s collection of purchase data is described in Apple’s privacy policy.

8. Analytics, advertising, crash reporting, and remote config

ScanChat PDF uses third-party services to operate ads, measure use, fix crashes, and update app settings. These services may collect device and usage information. They do not receive your PDF files, OCR text, or document chat.

  • Google AdMob shows banner, native, interstitial, and app-open ads to free users. Premium subscribers do not see ads. AdMob may use your device’s advertising identifier, IP address, approximate location derived from IP, and interaction with ads. Google’s policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
  • Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) may show a consent form where required (for example in the EEA, UK, or similar regions) before personalized ads.
  • Firebase Analytics (Google) records app events such as opens and basic usage so we can understand how the App is used.
  • Firebase Crashlytics (Google) collects crash logs and device/app version details so we can fix bugs. Crash reports do not include your documents.
  • Firebase Remote Config (Google) downloads settings such as whether ads are enabled, ad placement IDs, and the minimum supported app version. This is configuration data, not your files.

We do not sell your documents. We do not use document text for advertising. Cross-app tracking for ads happens only if you allow tracking in the iOS prompt, and only through the advertising partners listed above.

9. Children

ScanChat PDF is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Retention and deletion

Documents remain on your device until you delete them from Library or remove the App. Uninstalling ScanChat PDF deletes locally stored documents and preferences on that device.

Advertising, analytics, and crash data held by Google are retained under Google’s policies. You can reset your advertising identifier in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking (or Apple Advertising).

11. iCloud and future features

The App does not sync your document library to iCloud today. If a later version adds cloud sync or cloud AI, we will update this Privacy Policy and explain that behavior in the App before document text is sent off the device.

12. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top will be revised when a change is posted.
